'Modern-day Mary Poppins': College graduates embrace nannying as career
Wed Sep 11, 2013
What is wrong with these people? You have a nanny so they can help your child with his/her homework so that when you get home from work, you don't have to? Sincerely, why did you have children? Connecting with them (over something such as homework) should be one of the great joys of your life... & …
US gun culture is 'corrupting the world,' Australia ex-deputy PM says after Okla. slaying
Fri Aug 23, 2013
This brings to my mind the 1994 slaying of young Nicholas Green, an American vacationing in Italy with his family. They were gunned down by robber in the southern part of the country. Americans did not decry Italians, guns, or the country. In fact, his family not only forgave the murders, but donate …
'Fat letters' sent home to students cause a stir

Ask anyone in the exercise field...BMI is a joke. My husband is an extremely fit personal trainer. He's muscular, naturally. He has 9% body fat. "BMI" rates him as obese! You cannot whittle total health down to one number.
Internet goes nuts over dad's $200 'Facebook Deactivation' offer to daughter

So he basically paid her $200 for her to hand over her password. She's 14. Why didn't he have it in the first place?? I have mine. Furthermore, Facebook (and Internet access, in general) is a PRIVILEGE. At that age, you should get paid for doing WORK. It's a life lesson. He got conned out of $200 …

Prom-flation: Average family spends more than $1,000 on teen dance
Thu May 3, 2012
I could easily afford to spend $1000 on prom. No way in heck I will, though! I much prefer to put my money in more important things. I'm teaching my daughter to be smart with money. It starts at home with a good example. Some people have more money than sense.
Pink-haired student invited back to school
Tue Mar 20, 2012
Ok, that's really right up there with the most absurd thing I've ever heard. If anything, they should be celebrating the fact that this girl a) worked toward a goal and reached it and b) improved her grades in general!!!! Hold her up to the student population as an example or working hard and reapin …
